GREENHAND FFA DEGREE
 

The Greenhand FFA Degree is the first degree awarded to any FFA member. It is awarded by the FFA Chapter and to earn the degree, a member must demonstrate knowledge of the FFA history, the FFA Creed, the motto, salute, FFA mission statement, and other general FFA information. In addition, to be eligible for the Greenhand FFA Degree, the member must:

    * be enrolled in an agriculture course

    * have satisfactory plans for an SAE program

Further requirements for this degree are outlined in the National FFA Constitution, Article VI, Section B which can be found in the Official FFA Manual.

 

CHAPTER FFA DEGREE

The second degree that can be awarded to an FFA member is the Chapter FFA Degree. This degree is the highest degree that can be awarded by the local FFA chapter. It is usually awarded during the second or third year of membership. Completing two semesters of agricultural course work and holding the Greenhand FFA Degree are only two of the requirements of this degree. Additional requirements include:

* having an SAE program in operation

* being familiar with the local chapter's constitution and Program of Activities

* having earned and productively invested $150 or worked at least 45 hours outside of class time in an SAE program

* effectively led a group discussion for 15 minutes

* demonstrate five procedures of parliamentary law

* show progress toward individual achievement in the FFA award program

* have a satisfactory scholastic record
