went down in flames with all the contents—books, teachers’ records, children’s report cards, and many other things of value.  Construction was then started on an eight room brick building with auditorium, and was ready for school in the fall of 1932.  This building was still standing and was being used as late as 1984, although a new brick building was completed and put into use in the fall of 1968.  The old building housed the library, school cafeteria, and Agriculture classrooms.

 

In 1945 Brumley School consolidated with Union Hill.  Quickly following were the Simpsonville School in 1947 and the Perryville School in 1948.  Union Hill was

A consolidation vote was held in April of 1926 to join Bettie, Forest Hill, and Olive Branch schools. In the fall of 1927 these three schools became known as Union Hill. The land for the school was purchased from T. J. Blasingame.  It was about 1 ˝ miles west of Bettie and is the site of the school today.

 

A frame Building with auditorium and six class rooms was constructed by John A. Rutledge and John Sturdivant.  The school term began in the fall of 1927 with six teachers.  There were Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Carroll, Jennie Lindhorst, Odie Patterson, Ethel Nelson, and Ila Ree Parish.

 

In March, 1932 the frame structure

a Common school district until May of 1951 when it became an Independent School District. 

 

The last school in the area to consolidate with Union Hill was Bethlehem School in 1968.
